#LG To Unveil First Intel-Based #Android #Smartphone At CES, Launch In March

According to the The Korea Times, LG will unveil the first Android smartphone based on Intel’s Medfield SoC at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, with retail availability planned for March.
Intel has been hard at work to produce a viable processor for the mobile market. The new Medfield SoC aims to remedy issues with its older chipsets;
LG originally showed off a Moorestown-based smartphone at this year’s CES, which was later scrapped due to “lack of marketability”.
With Intel’s Korea chief being cited and an earlier report from Technology Review also hinting at a CES launch, the dates seem very likely. In its previous report, Technology Review has gotten some hands-on time with an Intel reference design and found it to be “smooth and fast”.
